Organizational Description
The organization
has been serving Mendocino County since September, 1974. During that
time it has gone through two changes of name (Mendocino Alcohol
Project to Alcohol Rehabilitation Corporation to Ford Street
Project). It began serving the homeless population in 1982, and the
agency has grown steadily since that time. Ford Street operates in
three basic areas: housing (including shelter), drug and alcohol
treatment, and job training/development. These three areas, as you
will note from the enclosed list of services, break down into many
programs. Ford Street is the largest provider of homeless housing and
support services in Mendocino County. |

Evaluation of Effectiveness
Ford Street
evaluates the effectiveness of it's services on
several ways. In housing, we track the ability of clients to move
through the shelter-transitional housing system to obtain and maintain
permanent housing. In treatment, we analyze recidivism in this
particular system and measure long-term recovery progress
with our graduates still residing in the region.
Ford Street utilizes weekly case conferencing with a wide number
of agencies to
review its effectiveness in housing and generally reviews its programs
in collaboration with other agencies. Statistical data for each
program are developed each month and analyzed for consistency,
comparison and, whenever possible, outcome. All of our programs in
the housing and treatment areas are subject to regular review by State,
County, Alcohol & Drug (AOD), and The Federal Department of Housing
& Urban Development (HUD). |
